These initiatives, supported by scientific evidence, advocate fasting abbreviation with ingestion clear liquids up 2 hours before elective surgery, strategy insulin resistance, immunomodulation for purpose anesthetic induction, without causing risks aspiration gastric contents, well early refeeding small volume diet, capable stimulating gastrointestinal tract reducing period postoperative ileus.
